As a public service initiative of Ham Community, Ham Journal aims to become the go-to resource for valuable and high-quality amateur radio content. This exciting venture is an Excess Noise LLC project.

Ham Journal is offered entirely advertising-free, a testament to its commitment to providing an undistracted and valuable reading experience. As a public service project by Ham Community, Ham Journal leverages the support and expertise of a dedicated community of amateur radio enthusiasts to deliver top-notch content.

Ham Journal invites amateur radio operators to share their wealth of knowledge and unique insights. The platform welcomes a variety of content types, including in-depth research articles, verified evidence-based pieces, opinion articles, photo essays, and video embeds. All content undergoes a rigorous peer-review process conducted by our panel of expert Elmers, ensuring accuracy, originality, and relevance.
Collaborative and Inclusive Approach
Prospective authors are encouraged to submit their article ideas before beginning the writing process. This collaborative step ensures that topics align with the interests of Ham Journal’s readership and meet editorial standards. The editorial team offers guidance to refine concepts, enhancing the overall quality and coherence of submissions.
Volunteer-Based and Author-Centric
Ham Journal’s authors are passionate volunteers who contribute without expectation of remuneration. This dedication highlights their commitment to the amateur radio community. The content published remains the intellectual property of the authors, while Ham Journal reserves the right to use the content on other Ham Community sites, promoting valuable information within the community.
Peer Review Process
The peer-review process at Ham Journal, which can take between two to six months, involves expert Elmers evaluating submissions for accuracy and relevance. This rigorous scrutiny enhances the credibility of authors and strengthens the reliability and scholarly value of published papers.
Author Levels and Guidance
Ham Journal categorizes authors into four levels: Contributor, Author, Elmer Revisor, and Editor. Contributors, with one to three published pieces, receive guidance aimed at improving their skills. Upon publishing their third piece, they become Authors, enjoying greater freedom and the ability to write opinion pieces.
Language Expansion
Currently, Ham Journal accepts content in English, with plans to expand to French and Spanish, as well as other languages, in the near future.
